What a trip

Matt's been telling me I should blog for awhile now... there's lots of updates, but first, the most important:

Meet Conor Joseph -- this little guy makes us an aunt and uncle for the first time. We're so glad he's finally here.

My mom and I got to see him within an hour or two after he was born. These first few pictures were taken while he was still awake and active. I've coined him as our little gloworm. Don't you think there's a resemblance? What a cutie... :)
I'm so glad I made the trip up to Iowa to be a part of this! Just some checkups

He didn't like his first bath all that much...Joe's a pro already. He was teaching me some of the new tricks they learned.Look at all that hair! Conor's such a good little baby. I think he and our little girl (yes, we're having a girl!) are going to like each other. I could feel her moving around when I was holding Conor in this picture.

I made a last minute decision to drive up to Iowa. There were so many things I'd be missing out on if I didn't, so it's been well worth the drive. The pups and I came up to meet Conor and to surprise my mom, Matt's mom, and friends at Rach's wedding shower. What perfect timing for all of that to be going on the same week.

Matt was excited about my trip because that meant I would be putting miles on "Jet" (One of our latest purchases -- we sold the Volvo and Matt's been having a lot of fun dowing his own work on our faded black Jetta TDI). He was curious how it would do on the highway, and we got over 50 miles per gallon. Nice, huh? I only had to stop and fill up once. The only catch was that I had to learn how to drive stick in a week or two. I'd had a couple of lessons before but that sure was the way to go. I drove everywhere while I was with Matt, and then had LOTS of time to practice on my own on my way up. I'm glad to have the skill now.

I haven't heard from Matt yet, but today he's supposed to be moving from the similators to the actual training heleloctors for instrument flying. Sounds scary to me to be flying around without being able to see outside. He'll have to update us all on how it went.

The other news is that little Kaeda passed her beginner obedience class. It was a close call though, because she can't sit still when people pet her. She loves everyone and everything. Chaz on the other hand, not only did not pass his intermediate class, he got kicked out 2 sessions before the end of class. I have to laugh, because not even our instructor (has owned and showed several shelties over the years) knows how to get through to this dog.

Congrats on being an Aunt! We're glad, too, that you were able to come up this week. It was great to see you on Saturday!

Nice, Ben. Matt's usually around to make sure I don't do something dumb like that. I wasn't even close!

Haha! Good stuff. Here's what Ben is talking about: Google search for "Helelopters"
